The issue of Boundary Restructure has been on the table for far too long, through no fault of our own. Many changes in the Ministry as well as our own staff capacity have made it nearly impossible to move this forward in a timely manner.
In previous years, there has been fear mongering with rumours abounding. This must stop. Our decisions and the decisions of the people potentially affected must be based in fact. We do not yet have all the facts, so everything said about restructure is pure conjecture at this point.
No one likes to live in uncertainty, and in the next three years, this must be decided one way or another.
The whole discussion of Boundary Restructure came about as a result of the failed talks at the CVRD level about possible restructuring of all the area borders in the valley. The city decided to go ahead and attempt to restructure our boundaries to include areas to which we already provide water, sewer and fire protection.
